Catalog Description

Examines the progression of development in the physical, cognitive, social/emotional domains and identifies developmental milestones for children from conception through adolescence. Emphasis on interactions between biological processes and environmental factors. Students will observe children, evaluate individual differences, and analyze characteristics of development at various stages according to developmental theories.

Section Notes

This IN PERSON class is taught by an instructor fluent in Cantonese. Major physical, psychosocial, and cognitive/language developmental milestones for children, both typical and atypical, from conception to adolescence, with an emphasis on interactions between maturational processes and environmental factors. Developmental theory, investigative research methodologies, observation of children, evaluation of individual differences and analysis of development at various stages.

Requisites

Recommended Preparation, ESL 186 or placement in ESL 188 or readiness for college-level English
