Catalog Description

Introduction to the basic concepts of physical geology, including Earth's origins and internal structure, plate tectonics, mountain building, earthquakes, minerals, rocks, volcanic processes, geologic time, weathering, erosion, coastal processes, landslides, streams, glaciers, and ice ages and natural resources. Emphasis on geologic features of western North America.

This hybrid class is part of CityOnline and is 16 weeks. GEOL 10-Sec 961 requires in-person meetings and the use of Canvas. In-person meetings will take place on Fridays from 11:10 AM – 12:30 PM at Ocean Campus, Science Hall room 5. Students will also complete coursework in Canvas, which must be accessed using an internet enabled device. For course details, students must check the instructor's website.
