Catalog Description

An introductory course in the fundamental science of materials used by engineers. Emphasis on structure and properties. Some processing and applications of materials is also covered. Finally, a strategy is developed for the selection and use of these materials in engineering design. UC, CSU transferable.

Section Notes

This in-person class has mandatory lecture meetings on Tuesdays at the Ocean Campus. Students will primarily complete coursework by attending in-person meetings and will also need an internet enabled device to complete some coursework in Canvas.

Requisites

PREREQ: CHEM 101A or CHEM 103A; PHYC 4A and PHYC 4AL Recommended Preparation, ENGN 10B; Completion/concurrent enrollment in CHEM 101B; and PHYC 4B and PHYC 4BL
