Annual City College Fashion Show Presented Live on Twitch
"FashionSphere was used for the theme for 2020's Annual fashion show. It defines our own fashion world and what is happening in our own fashion sphere. Resurgence speaks about emerging from the pandemic, going back into the world and things opening up. In regards to fashion, people who are fashion-minded and love fashion can re-emerge and be seen again,"Smith said.

Fashion competition survived City College cuts and made a big difference for these students
"Seven finalists vied for the scholarships. They showcased their fashion collections that took months to design, in a competition that was at risk of not happening, as City College came breathtakingly close to cutting its fashion department entirely this year. That it survived in a tradeoff involving faculty pay cuts turned out to be an especially thrilling gift to the three scholarship winners."

Sustainably Stylish
"'New generations of consumers care about the environment and will demand sustainability from the brands they're buying from,' Lambert says. Dixit also sees the change and believes 'secondhand clothing, recycling, and upcycling are the future of fashion.' Her whole perspective shifted during the pandemic. She now sees 'how content and happy we all can be with limited resources... Just like we eat organic food since it's good for our body and our environment, sustainable clothing should also be a part of our lifestyle.'"

Stitching Success: Fashion department launches students into a competitive industry
"A whir of voices fills the City College fashion production classroom as students shuffle in with bags under their eyes and tired smiles. They sport flashy outfits and chat about the upcoming fashion show. A few yank their handmade sample garments out of dry-cleaning totes to present to the class. Natalie Smith, the acting fashion department chair, sits at the head of her classroom greeting students and complimenting outfits. Kamille Hitz, the former department chair, strolls into the classroom minutes before presentations begin. Hitz sports a fading purple dye in her hair and a grin. Heartfelt hellos and warm smiles welcome her. She sits, the room quiets, and all is in order."
