Renaissance Art

The course examines Renaissance art, including works in the permanent collection and special exhibitions at the Legion of Honor Museum. Art will be discussed from a critical and historical perspective with regard to cultural context and formal elements of style.

18th-Century French Art

The course examines 18th-century French paintings, including those in the permanent collection at the Legion of Honor Museum. Paintings will be discussed from a critical and historical perspective with reference to cultural context and formal elements of style.

Comics, Power, and Society

An introduction to the social sciences using the medium of comic books, graphic novels, and sequential art-related media
illustrating central social science concepts. Examination of power, powerlessness, and superpower. Past and present impact on a diverse American society by comic books, graphic novels, sequential art, and animation as artistic expressions and representations of socio-political issues.

VASA/Oceania Student Success Program supports Pacific Island and all ¾«Ñ¡AV students in pursuit of academic success through comprehensive, culturally specific, multilingual education programs and services that promote successful learning and student achievement in a multicultural environment. The program also offers link courses in English, Math, College Success, and Critical Pacific Island Studies.

The mission of the UMOJA/African American Scholastic Programs (AASP) is to provide its students with appropriate program services while demonstrating sensitivity and appreciation of different life situations and academic endeavors. AASP promotes student success and goal attainment through academic, career/vocational and personal counseling.

The Office of Student Employment assists in the process of hiring student workers for on-campus jobs. Our mission is to implement on-campus student employment as an educational experience which will contribute to our student's professional and personal maturity.
